Meet the Teacher night - Thursday, October 6th. the Teacher night - Thursday, October 6th. <p class="MsoNormal"><span class="ms-rteFontFace-5 ms-rteFontSize-2" lang="EN-CA">Here is the schedule for the evening:</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:1.5in;text-indent:-1.5in;"><span class="ms-rteFontFace-5 ms-rteFontSize-2" lang="EN-CA">4:45 – 5:30pm       Pre-ordered pizza can be picked up on the back tarmac from your child’s teacher.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:1.5in;text-indent:-1.5in;"><span class="ms-rteFontFace-5 ms-rteFontSize-2" lang="EN-CA">5:00 – 6:00pm       STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) demonstration in the gymnasium.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span class="ms-rteFontFace-5 ms-rteFontSize-2" lang="EN-CA">6:00 – 7:00pm       Classes will be open to Meet the Teachers</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span class="ms-rteFontFace-5 ms-rteFontSize-2" lang="EN-CA">Also of note, sign-up sheets will be posted all evening for families to sign-up for the upcoming student-led conferences scheduled for the week of November 14<sup>th</sup> – 18<sup>th</sup>.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span class="ms-rteFontFace-5 ms-rteFontSize-2" lang="EN-CA">As well, we will have On-Site Printers here for the evening selling school spirit wear.  Students will be able to design their own clothing and it will be created on the spot for them to take home with them and enjoy.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span class="ms-rteFontFace-5 ms-rteFontSize-2" lang="EN-CA">Pizza for the evening can be purchased via School Cash On-line until this Sunday, October, 2<sup>nd</sup>.  We are only selling whole pizzas and the cost of a pizza is $10.00.  When you are purchasing the pizza on-line, please only select one child’s teacher’s name and that is the teacher that you will be able to collect the pizza from the night of the event.  Our school council members will also have water available for families to enjoy and they will have a booth set up to share more information about our school council and how you can get involved.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span class="ms-rteFontFace-5 ms-rteFontSize-2" lang="EN-CA">We are looking forward to seeing everyone October 6<sup>th</sup></span></p>

Please support our school by making a donation or by joining us. If you wish to join us for the walk, please be sure to come to the school before 2:00pm this Thursday, September 29th, so that you can sign in at the office and receive your visitor's badge. Your kindness will impact the lives of so many people living with cancer. Volunteers needed! needed! <p>​We could really use your help this year. If you are able to generously donate any of your time to <a href="/parents/volunteer">volunteer</a>, please contact the school office at 705-458-4461 at your earliest convenience. <br></p><p>We are hoping to have volunteers join us for reading with students in the primary classes and helping teachers in some classrooms. Our library can benefit from volunteer assistance too!</p><p>We need help with our Pizza Program, Safe Arrival, our Healthy Snack Program and of course field trips and sports.</p><p>Remember, too, the Cookstown Central P.S. <a href="/parents/school-council">School Council</a> is looking for your support.</p><p>All volunteers need to have current police checks and vulnerable sector checks. Once you have completed a police check you must sign a Declaration every fall in order to remain on our list of approved volunteers.</p><p>We hope you will consider joining our dynamic team.</p>

Information for parents/guardians of Junior Kindergarten students for parents/guardians of Junior Kindergarten students<p> </p><p>Do you have a little one starting school for the first time this fall? We know that is it an exciting time for both students and parents. Here is some information about Kindergarten in the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) and what you can expect and how to plan for the first day of school:</p><div><ul><li>Senior Kindergarten students begin school on Tuesday, September 6, 2016.<br></li><li>Junior Kindergarten students begin school on Thursday, September 8, 2016.<br></li><li>Note that <a href="">Ernest Cumberland ES</a> is on a modified calendar. The first day of school for Ernest Cumberland JK students is Wed. Aug. 24.<br></li><li>On the first day, proceed to the Kindergarten yard or entrance to meet your educators and find out what class your child will be in.<br></li><li>Please <a href="">pack the following items in your child’s backpack</a> to be left at school:<br></li><ul><li>Indoor running shoes (Velcro or elastic laces)</li><li>A large Ziploc bag with extra clothes (one pair of pants, one shirt, two pairs of underwear, two pairs of socks)</li><li>​Please ensure everything is labelled</li></ul><li>Pack a lunch and snacks in reusable, labelled containers, including a bottle for water. For healthy lunch ideas, check out <a href="">EatRight Ontario</a>.<br></li></ul></div><p>If your child will ride the school bus, the <a href="">Bus Tag</a> program provides each Kindergarten student with a coloured tag that identifies the child’s name, route number, bus colour and stop location. All students with a bus tag must be met at their stop by a parent/guardian. To practice riding the bus and learn about bus safety, attend a <a href="">First Rider</a> session provided by the <a href="">Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium</a>. ​</p><p>If your child is turning four years old before Dec. 31, 2016 and you have not yet registered them for Kindergarten, you can do so by calling 705-734-6363 x11750 or emailing <a href=""></a> to schedule an appointment to register in person at the SCDSB’s Education Centre (1170 Hwy. 26 in Midhurst) until August 26 while school offices are closed. Starting August 29, please contact your <a href="">home school</a> to register as school offices will re-open that week.</p><p>If you have any further questions about your child’s first day, please <a href="">contact your school​</a> the week of August 29.</p><p>​</p>
